**Update on the $50,000 Grant:** We came in second, which means we did not receive the grant. However, I have some good news. The grant manager called me, and we had a conversation that lasted about 15 minutes. He mentioned that he typically doesn’t reach out to organizations, but he was so impressed with our grant proposal and the passion evident in our writing. He also noted that our mission statements were strong.
Despite this, he returned to the grant board and requested a waiver on our financial statements. Many grants require three years' financials to assess how we utilize the donations and grant money we receive. Unfortunately, the board denied his request because rules are rules.
On the bright side, I now know what to focus on for the next three years. He recommended that we begin financial planning now. If we don’t have any funding, we should pursue smaller grants, ranging from $500 to $2,000. I have learned so much from this process, and I am grateful that God placed a supportive person in my path. Thank you Lord, on a side note, my military buddy helped me perfect the document with some edits.
Here are some companies I will apply for grants this month and next month. Please pray for the process. I'm also planning to take a grant this month and part of next month.
Grant Preparation Boot Camp is a seven-week coaching program from TechSoup to help you prepare for successful grant applications
1. **Coca-Cola** The Coca-Cola Foundation supports nonprofits through financial grants, sponsorship opportunities, and product donations. Eligible organizations should have 501(c)(3) status if based in the US, or equivalent charitable status in their own country if based abroad. All requests for support must go through their online application system.
2. **ConocoPhillips** Charitable 501(c)(3) organizations (or international equivalents) can submit grant applications for efforts relating to ConocoPhillips' signature programs for math education and habitat conservation. Visit their site for eligibility requirements and to apply for a grant.
3. **Disney** The Walt Disney Company has different ways to support nonprofits. For over 25 years, they have provided grants for environmentally-focused nonprofit organizations through the Disney Conservation Fund, which accepts applications in the fall. They also donate tickets for Disney parks to volunteer events held by nonprofits for use in fundraising events or as rewards for volunteers.
4. **Dunkin’ Donuts** Dunkin’ Donuts promotes hunger relief through the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, which offers grants to food banks, food pantries, grocery delivery programs, community gardens, backpack programs, and other food-based nonprofit initiatives. Visit their site to learn more and apply for a hunger relief grant.
I’m hopeful that these opportunities will help us move forward with prayer from everyone.
