Understanding Our Pipeline: Sourcing High-Potential Contacts
This section clarifies what a cold lead is and details the strategic process we use to identify and qualify these vital contacts.
Cold Leads: Definition
Cold leads are contacts who haven’t previously engaged with CA Jail Outreach & Camp Growth or shown prior interest in our programs. These are individuals or organizations that fit our mission profile, and we’re connecting with them for the first time.
How We Find Cold Leads
We identify cold leads by searching for mission-related keywords (such as “prison,” “chaplain,” “reentry,” “faith,” and “veteran”) across relevant sectors, including religious organizations, non-profits, schools, corrections facilities, and the military. We focus on roles including pastor, chaplain, director of ministry, community outreach, volunteer coordinator, partnership manager, and grant manager.
How We Filter and Select Cold Leads
Leads are filtered by keyword, industry type, job title, company size, and management level (from founders to managers).
Each lead is checked for a strong potential fit with our areas of impact and is verified before outreach.
Nurturing New Connections: Engagement and Tracking
With the cold leads, we send out an Introduction email and an option to opt into the monthly newsletter. If they decide to stay, they are moved into two categories: Business or Churches. Each cold lead is monitored for open rates, clicks, and other key metrics. This way, we can determine if they are interested in what we are doing, and we can focus on those leads at another date and time.

Areas for Focused Improvement: Refining Our Reach
